Platform Update Week 11

Release Date March 06 2024

Implemented subscription retries, added PayPal one-off payments for growth and free customers.

Dunning for automatic subscription retries

We have implemented a retry mechanism (known as Dunning) for subscription management. Upon the due date of a subscription, a new invoice is automatically generated. Subsequently, the invoice amount is collected through charge attempts. Should a charge attempt fail, our system initiates a retry mechanism, attempting to charge the invoice again on days 2, 4, and 6 following the initial due date. If all charge attempts fail, the invoice is marked as cancelled, and a new one is generated in the subsequent interval, following the same process. If three or five consecutive invoices fail or are cancelled, then the subscription is automatically cancelled.

By default, our system allows three retries per invoice, and a subscription is terminated after three or five consecutive failed invoices. For instance, in a monthly subscription scenario:

Setting 1 : Three retries per invoice, subscription canceled after 3 failed invoices.

  • Month 1: Charge attempts are made on the due date, with retries scheduled for days 2, 4, and 6. The invoice is cancelled if payment is not collected.
  • Month 2: The process repeats, with charge attempts and retries as described above.
  • Month 3: Similarly, charge attempts are made on the due date, followed by retries. If payment fails to be collected, the subscription is cancelled.

Setting 2 : Three retries per invoice, subscription canceled after 5 failed invoices.

  • Month 1 : Charge attempts are made on the due date, with retries scheduled for days 2, 4, and 6. The invoice is canceled if payment is not collected.
  • Month 2 : The process repeats, with charge attempts and retries as described above.
  • Month 3: The process repeats, with charge attempts and retries as described above.
  • Month 4: The process repeats, with charge attempts and retries as described above.
  • Month 5: Similarly, charge attempts are made on the due date, followed by retries. If payment fails to be collected, the subscription is canceled.

The dunning functionality can be activated upon customer request. Please send a short message to support@raisenow.com and our customer success team will activate it for your organisation. See our documentation for more details.
